I couldn't find a version of Boots from 'The Times They are a Changing', which is the definitive audio track of this for me, and probably one of the few songs I used to listen to in my teens which I still put on sometimes. Usually when I'm depressed.
I think the audio in the YouTube video is from one of the 'Witmark demo' bootlegs, which were released two or three years ago. He recorded all of these songs, solo, as samples to be distributed and get other artists to record his songs (and pay him a fee, of course). I think this was before he did the actual album, but it certainly sounds like the way he did it on the record.
